🥳 Nikon Z 24 120 F4 Vs 24 70 F2 8
You can have a 24-120 and the 28-75 and even the 40mm f2 prime for the price of the 24-70 2.8 IMHO get either the 24-120 or the 28-75 depending on your needs, and save the difference for the announced 70-180 2.8.

So I sold it for the extra range the 24-120 provides and have primes for speed. I figured that if they were the same at f/4, I'd rather have wider/longer/VR/Nano coated. The 24-70 is an S line lens so it's Nikon's "higher quality" type of lens with better optical performance. It is also faster with a wider aperture of f2.8 which is significantly better for low light and I guess for sports on a cloudy day - though the limited zoom range wouldn't make it my lens of choice for sports unles you're right on top of the action.
The 24-200 is a one-lens solution. The 24-120 is a two-lens solution, combining the 24-120 with a longer lens, perhaps 100-400. The 24-70 is perhaps then a three lens solution, perhaps with the 70-200F2.8 and a longer lens as well (perhaps one day a 200-600). I'm leaning towards a 3 lens set. 14-30, 24-120 and 100-400.

By coincidence I just bought this afternoon, from Craigs List, the Sigma version of the 24-105 (for $550) and although I haven't taken more than a handful of shots, so far it is impressiveno vignetting at 24mm, razor sharp in the center A7rII with MC-11 adapter.
Hey everyone ! This is the first look at the Nikon Z 24-120mm f4S. in this video we will take a look at the build & design of the lensPicture quality compare
The 24-120 f4 will probably be a great versatile lens for travelling or day trips. Plenty of zoom, not heavy, and easily replaced aka lower financial burden if I drop it, lose it, etc compared to the 24-70 f2.8but I know I will ultimately be disappointed with the pictures I take with it compared to my 85 mm f1.8.
Border performance is not bad wide open but does not really profit much when stopping down. Same story at 35mm, albeit with only little vignetting: Unremarkables at 35mm: Infinity shots with Nikon Nikkor 24-120/4.0G VR on a D800. 35mm, f4.0, 100 ISO; Below: 100% crops from the main image at different apertures.
I do own a Z 24-120 f4, and it's a fantastic lens. Sharp, quick and light. The 35-150 is considerably heavier, and apparently slower to focus, at least on Sony's E mount version. It's often recommended for events, portraits, weddings etc. but not so much for faster action, like spots or street photography.
These lenses shine at f5.6-f8 and give a new benchmark for "kit" lenses. After seeing this video I feel completely comfortable trading in the 24-70mm f4 then add the 24-200mm and 20mm f1.8 for a two lens kit.
